LYNCHBURG, Va. – After a challenging year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, future graduates from Liberty University will able to walk across the stage this spring. Graduation ceremonies are scheduled for May 11 through May 15, and the ceremonies will also be available online for those who cannot attend them in-person, according to a press release. AdLiberty University said that public health measures are still in effect at campus events and that the university will send updates to graduates if there are any changes to guidelines and restrictions in the upcoming weeks. The governor has lifted the mandate, and we are now allowed to hold in-person ceremonies to honor these graduates and help them celebrate this milestone together with their families,” said Liberty President Jerry Prevo. Liberty University post shows little to no mask wearing during snowball fightLYNCHBURG, Va. – We now know Liberty University received a notice of violation for a campus-wide snowball fight last month. On Jan. 31, the university had a massive snowball fight where hundreds of students were standing shoulder-to-shoulder, many without masks. A week after his apology, Feb. 9, the Lynchburg City Health Department issued Liberty University a notice of violation regarding the event. This came after the health department received 119 complaints about the snowball fight. The notice doesn’t come with any type of punishment for the university, but it does warn of future action if more violations are reported.

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty University has filed a lawsuit against Virginia on the basis of discrimination. The legal complaint alleges that amendments to the 2020 Virginia Budget wrongly exclude Virginia’s online students from receiving the Virginia Tuition Assistance Grant, according to Liberty. Ralph Northam and Peter Blake, the director of the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia. Since 1973, the state of Virginia has provided economic assistance to Virginia residents seeking higher education through its VTAG program and until 2020, students, regardless of being online or in-person, could apply to receive funding. The 2020 VTAG amendments harm all of these groups, and others.”The case is currently pending in the United States District Court For The Western District Of Virginia Lynchburg Division.

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Looks like Liberty University’s head football coach is going to stay with the Flames for six more years. Liberty announced Wednesday that it has extended its contract with Hugh Freeze, the head football coach, through the 2026 season. “We are proud of Coach Freeze and the football program,” said Jerry Prevo, Liberty University President. LYNCHBURG, Va. – We now know who will be leading Liberty University for the time being. Liberty Board Chairman Dr. Jerry Prevo accepted the appointment by the Executive Committee of the Board to serve as acting president, the university announced on Monday evening. This decision comes after the university announced Friday that President Jerry Falwell Jr. would be taking an indefinite leave of absence. Prevo has served on the Liberty University Board of Trustees since 1996 and has been the Board Chairman since 2003. He has also stepped aside from his role as Chairman of the Liberty University Board of Trustees for the duration of his service as Acting President of the University.
