The TV Academy told her it was because there were too many producers listed, but she was the only one whose position was contested, she said. The TV Academy denies that Kaling was singled out, though. Fischer referenced the statement given by the TV Academy and said there were other people on the show with multiple roles.

When we met prior to the "Office Ladies" launch, they had a few episodes done, but were leaving room for evolution based on listener feedback. NBC News reports that a person familiar with the negotiations said Netflix made an offer to hold on to it, but the offer was rejected. Netflix was reportedly willing to pay up to $90 million a year for the rights, but NBC topped that offer with $100 million.
