More than a dozen NFL scouts were in Blacksburg on Monday.

Virginia Tech earned its third win of the season, edging Liberty by one.

Blake Watson scored on a 1-yard run with 33 seconds to play and Old Dominion beat Virginia Tech for the second time in as many tries on its home field, 20-17.

West Virginia survived No. 15 Virginia Tech’s furious rally from a 20-point deficit to beat the Hokies 27-21.

The Virginia Tech Hokies lost to the Miami Hurricanes with a score of 25-24. In the first quarter, Hooker completed a 53-yard rushing touchdown for the Hokies. Then, running back Jalen Holston made an 8-yard rushing touchdown in the second quarter. In the second quarter, The Hurricanes made their first touchdown of the game as quarterback D’Eriq King completed a 10-yard rushing touchdown. In the third quarter, the Hokies completed a 1-yard rushing touchdown by Holston.

But that hasn’t been the case under head coach Justin Fuente’s “running backs by committee” approach, which does appears to be stronger this upcoming season. During the offseason, Tech welcomed two running backs to help its cause. “Helping those young guys come along and getting the whole team right and for me when my number is called I’m going to come play,” Holston said. This trio will compliment an explosive Keshawn King and a host of other young backs. And by the looks of the talented group, the ground attack will be a threat for this budding offense.
