The FBI has found no reason to investigate the death of Israel Jackson after authorities say the Roanoke Police Department sent investigative files to the federal agency for review. Below is a portion of the statement from the Roanoke Police Department:This is a tragic situation, and we empathize with Israel Jacksons family and friends. We have spoken with Mr. Jacksons adoptive family regarding this investigation and encouraged them to reach out to us with any further questions. Out of respect for Mr. Jackson and his adoptive familys privacy, we have not shared many details of the events surrounding his passing. When officers arrived, they identified the man as 20-year-old Israel Jackson who was reported missing on April 5, 2020.

The medical examiner in Roanoke ruled Israel Jackson’s death a suicide, however friends and family feel there is more to the story they aren’t being told. ‘Something just doesn’t add up’: Roanoke man’s death ruled suicide, but family has suspicionsJackson’s family and friends, along with the family’s attorney, are holding a news conference at 5:30 p.m. on Monday to urge authorities to reopen the investigation. A petition entitled “Justice for Israel Monte Jackson” had nearly 20,000 signatures as of 4:30 p.m. Monday. According to the petition, family and supporters want the Roanoke City Police Department to conduct a “complete and thorough investigation” into the “suspicious” circumstances surrounding Jackson’s death.
