Two Virginia State Police troopers were hospitalized following a chase that ended in a crash along Interstate 64 in Albemarle County on Friday evening (Sept. 6).

An 11-month-old boy is dead after an Alleghany County crash on Interstate 64, according to Virginia State Police.

Virginia State Police told 10 News that there were a total of seven weather-related crashes Tuesday morning in Alleghany, Bath and Highland, three of which happened on Interstate 64.

Drivers heading west on Interstate 64 near Lexington can expect delays due to a sinkhole, according to VDOT.

Two men were arrested after drugs and other related items were found during a traffic stop on Interstate 64, according to the Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office.

ALLEGHANY COUNTY, Va. A 40-year-old man died after a crash on Interstate 64 earlier this week, according to Virginia State Police. At 6:36 p.m. on Tuesday, state police responded to a single-vehicle crash on westbound Interstate 64 at the exit 16B off-ramp, the exit for Covington. A 2013 Ford F-150 pickup truck was on the off ramp when it ran off the left side of the road, hit a guardrail, overturned and then struck the embankment, according to police. The driver, William Groves, was taken to LewisGale Hospital Alleghany where he died from his injuries. Police said he was not wearing a seat belt and the crash remains under investigation.

AP – Virginia State Police are asking for the public’s help to find a vehicle involved in a shooting on Interstate 64 that left a 34-year-old woman hospitalized. In a news release, police said that at about 10:10 p.m. Friday night, a white Dodge Stratus and a silver Ford Flex were heading north on Interstate 95 at the I-95/I-64 Bryan Park interchange when the vehicles began “engaging in aggressive driving.”As both vehicles took an exit ramp, the driver of the Dodge fired several shots into the rear of the Ford. The Dodge then pulled up along the passenger side of the Ford and the driver continued firing into the Ford. Police said the two vehicles made contact at one point, before the white Dodge Stratus fled the scene

ROCKBRIDGE COUNTY, Va. – UPDATEThis crash has been cleared as of 7:38 p.m., according to VDOT. Drivers are seeing a 3.5-mile backup after a crash north of the Interstate 64/81 interchange in Rockbridge County, as of 7:03 p.m.At mile marker 193.6, both the southbound right lane and right shoulder are closed. VDOT established a detour that takes drivers off I-81 at exit 195 onto U.S. 11 until getting onto I-64 and then back on I-81 at exit 191. At one point Monday evening, the backup was 6 miles long.
