ROANOKE, Va. – Drivers may have experienced some delays Friday night going north on Interstate 581. There were two multi-vehicle crashes on 581 North, one at mile marker 0 (Elm Avenue) and the other at mile marker 1 (Orange Avenue). Lane closures at both crashes have been lifted and the back-up that was 1.5 miles has cleared.

ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. – You’ll want to avoid this part of Interstate 81 tonight. A multi-vehicle crash is causing delays in the southbound lanes of Interstate 81, right near the Interstate 581 interchange. As of 7:03 p.m. VDOT reports that the left shoulder, left lane and right lane are closed. Traffic is backed up for about 4 miles.

ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. UPDATEVirginia State Police have released the name of the woman who died in Mondays nights crash on Interstate 581 in Roanoke. Brittany Underwood, 27, of Vinton, died in the crash after her car overturned multiple times, according to police. A tattoo shop in downtown Roanoke, True Craft Tattoo, took to Facebook to announce that Underwood, who worked there, had died. The driver was the only person in the car which overturned multiple times, according to state police. State police and VDOT both report the crash happened within Roanoke County lines, not Roanoke City.

BUENA VISTA, Va. – The Buena Vista Police Department is asking for help finding two missing women who may now be somewhere in Franklin County. Jacquelyn “Bridgett” Clark, 42, and Mary “Becky” Williams, 40, were last seen on April 18 in Buena Vista, shortly before midnight. Police believe the two left Buena Vista to to go the Smith Mountain Lake area in Franklin County in Williams’ dark blue 2013 Ford Explorer bearing VA Tag VKG-4414. Investigators believe the two took Interstate 81 to Interstate 581 and then used Route 116 to get to Franklin County. Anyone with any information regarding their whereabouts is asked to contact the Buena Vista Police Department at 540-261-6171, the Rockbridge County Sheriff’s Office at 540-463-7328 or the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office at 540-483-3000.

ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. – The Blue Ridge Parkway will be closing early Thursday due to projected weather, but Illuminights will still be decking the halls. People who still plan on going to Illuminights will have to use the entrance at 3900 Rutrough Road, 24014. Below are directions to Rutrough Road:From Interstate 581, take exit 6 and turn left onto Elm Avenue heading towards Vinton. Immediately take next left turn onto Rutrough Road (Route 658). The service entrance is 3.9 miles the left at 3900 Rutrough Road.
