Three people have been killed in Lynchburg between Monday and Tuesday and police said in a press conference Tuesday that two of those people were murdered by the same person.

The Lynchburg Police Department will be holding a joint press conference this afternoon with community leaders to address the recent homicides and the investigations into them.

This marked the eighth homicide in Lynchburg so far this year -- matching the highest in recent years. There were eight homicides in all of 2018, and police say prior to that was before 2000.
