Both the driver, Timothy Davis, 20, of Dugspur, and the passenger, Dakota Justice, 21, of Hillsville, were ejected from the vehicle. Justice died at the scene, while Davis was taken to a hospital to be treated for serious injuries. Virginia State Police said charges are pending and that the crash remains under investigation. According to police, the Wythe County deputies pursued the vehicles into Carroll County where the Carroll County deputies took over the pursuit. The vehicle was finally stopped after crossing into Surry County, North Carolina. Authorities said they found items inside Clayโs vehicle that were taken from the Holiday Inn Express vehicle smash and grabs earlier. According to police, Clay was taken into custody and is facing charges in Surry County, Carroll County, Wythe County and Wytheville.

The event had about 75 trucks with banners in memory of those with cancer. Organization officials said that the parade raised over $8,700 for the American Cancer Societyโs Relay for Life of the Twin Counties.

She said the restaurant depends on the money from the flea market to survive the later half of the year. โTheyโll come and eat before the flea market or after the flea market, so theyโll come and eat and it brings a lot of business in,โ Hawks said. The town said it will still be issuing yard sale permits for residents.

Investigators with the Hillsville Police Department reported that the incident occurred last Wednesday around 4 a.m. at Contenders Pizzeria & Arcade, located in Hickory Hills Shopping Center. According to the report, security cameras at the business show one individual exit a white SUV with black rims while wearing a mask, hoodie and gloves. The security video shows the individual going straight to the cash register, and then proceeding straight to the back office. The vehicle went to Cockerhams at Exit 14 and met with a pickup truck, the report said.

Mary Jett battled the virus for 38 days, according to her grandson Franklin Jett. Mary lived at Hillsville Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Carroll County. As of June 22, VDH is reporting there are 63 coronavirus cases in the facility and five people have died. Unfortunately, itโs been a lot longer,โ said Franklin Jett, her grandson when we spoke with him June 16.

Authorities arrested her husband, 36-year-old Marcus Bolen, in connection with her death, after obtaining warrants for murder and felony child neglect, according to the Carroll County Sheriffโs Office. 10 News spoke with some of Laurenโs neighbors and friends who described her as โupbeat, bubbly and smiling,โ with a huge heart for her three daughters.
