Saturday's second round start time moved up to 11:15 a.m. due to weather.

Thousands are set to converge on West Virginia in just a few days for the second LIV Golf tournament at The Greenbrier. With the event kicking off this Friday, excitement is throughout the resort and into the surrounding town.

LIV Golf is back at the Greenbrier and our very own Kelly Marsh was live in West Virginia today where everyone is excited about the tournament.

"I think there's a difference of understanding of what we're trying to accomplish," said Bryson DeChambeau.

The third Friday in May is Endangered Species Day.

LIV Golf has made it official: Anthony Kim is joining the Saudi-funded league.

Most snow accumulation will be above the 3,000-foot level on our west-facing slopes.

The Greenbrier dates are set for August 16-18 2024.

DeChambeau finished with an historic final round score of 58.

"At the end of the day I think everybody is benefiting from LIV golf-directly or indirectly," said Kevin Na.

The tornado warning issued for Alleghany, Greenbrier, and Monroe counties has been lifted.

It looked a lot like Christmas this summer at America’s resort – filming on a Hallmark movie just wrapped up at the Greenbrier.

The historic amount of rainfall caused deadly flooding in areas of Virginia and West Virginia in June 2016.

It was this time five years ago, however, when a winter storm brought more than a foot of snow to parts of our region. Parts of the Roanoke Valley and Highlands saw more than a foot of snow from this storm. The winners were in western Greenbrier and western Pocahontas Counties, where more than a foot and a half of snow fell. A major coastal storm brought 1-2 ft. of snow to the region. That introduced a lot of moisture into that cold air and created the perfect recipe for accumulating snowfall.

In less than 12 hours, one part of our area saw 2-3 months worth of rain resulting in deadly flooding.

WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. – The Greenbrier will have been closed for more than two months when it reopens its doors next week. At noon on March 19, The Greenbrier closed its doors amid coronavirus concerns. When guests return to the property, they’ll notice a variety of safety measures, including:Full-time teams dedicated to sanitizing high-touch public spaces such as door handles, railings, elevator buttons, tables and desks. The housekeeping team is paying special attention to sanitizing high-touch areas inside the rooms, such as remote controls, clocks, light switches and informational guides. Seating areas have been adjusted inside restaurants to allow for additional distancing and reservation times have been spread out to avoid backups.

However, a PGA tournament that takes place close to home is now canceled for good - and not just because of the COVID-19 pandemic. 19-year-old Jessica Flack is a waitress at Bella Italy in White Sulphur Springs. “Our summers are usually packed here because of all the visitors at the PGA tour and stuff,” Flack said. Emerald Campbell lives in White Sulphur Springs and says restaurants, shops and hotels will all suffer.

WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. – The Greenbrier is shutting its doors for nearly a month, beginning Thursday. The West Virginia resort announced the closure on Wednesday evening, citing advice of both state and national government and health officials. The Greenbrier will suspend operations beginning Thursday at 12 p.m. and plans to resume normal operations on Friday, April 17 at 11 a.m.

ROANOKE, Va. – The winter of 2019-2020 has been rather wimpy so far for our area’s snow lovers. Around this time four years ago, however, snow blanketed the region. A major coastal storm brought 1-2 ft. of snow to the region.

This means that most of what falls in the Blue Grass Valley and western Greenbrier will be in the form of snow. Mountain tops will see the most snow accumulation, while parts of the NRV and Highlands may see a coating of snow on the grass. Bottomline is this: no snow day for us Tuesday. We'll wake up to temperatures in the teens, which is record territory for a lot of us. By Wednesday afternoon, we're looking at more record cold afternoon highs.

WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, WV - The Greenbrier Classic kicked off Wednesday at the Old White TPC course in White Sulphur Springs. This year, the tournament opens the PGA Tour season instead of its usual time in July. Players and spectators were hoping the September start meant cooler weather, but that was not the case at the Pro-Am. "It's a lot cooler, it's a little cooler," PGA pro Bryson DeChambeau joked. Daleville's Butch Tyree, who many will recognize in the sportsworld as the former Northside HS athletic director, is this year's honoree. Tyree is recently retired after 30 years as a math teacher, athletic director and coach at Northside high. He's volunteered at the tournament for seven years.

But the 2018 field sports eight top-50 players, including two of the hottest golfers on tour. The former U.S. Open champ is the 2018 Players champion, and is ranked 21 in the world, while Greenbrier Sporting Club member Bubba Watson is the first golfer with three wins on the PGA tour this year. There's so many storylines it would be cool for me to do it," two-time Masters champion Bubba Watson said. The pro-am action is set for Wednesday, with the tournament beginning Thursday on the Old White TPC course.
