University of Lynchburg baseball won its opening game of the NCAA tournament Friday with a 7-3 victory over Salve Regina.

The Hornets have reached the NCAA Tournament in back-to-back seasons for the first time since a 7-year span from 1977-1983.

After nine years and 327 games later, University of Lynchburg baseball is back on top of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference as the Hornets defeated Shenandoah University 9-8 in walk-off fashion on Fox Field Saturday afternoon to claim Lynchburg’s ninth title in program history.
