Grayson, Carroll, Wythe, Bland, Pulaski, Giles, Craig, Alleghany, Bath and Highland counties are OUT of the Tornado Watch. A warning means that a tornado is imminent or likely to happen soon. If a warning is issued for your location, you need to seek shelter in the lowest possible spot, away from windows. Once it does, the wind will become strong at times through early Friday morning.

Friday, however, will be 20-25 cooler for most locations. High temperatures will top out in the upper 70s and low 80s in this part of the region. The wedge will be in play, which also means an overcast sky for much of the day and patches of light rain and drizzle. Just know that the farther inland it goes, the wetter we'd be mid-to-late next week.

Virginia changed the age for getting a Tdap booster shot. To align with current ACIP recommendations, the 2019 General Assembly passed HB 2215 that changes the grade in which students receive Tdap vaccine from sixth to seventh grade. Students who received a Tdap immunization at age ten will not need another Tdap vaccine to enter seventh grade. He says establishing a routine is important and you should start a week or two before school starts.
