The Grand Jury For the City of Roanoke met Monday and found probable cause to return bills of indictment in three cases with interest to the community at large, the Commonwealth’s Attorney Office said.

The case for a man who was arrested and charged in connection with an officer-involved shooting at a Family Dollar/Dollar Tree in Clifton Forge on Dec. 8 was certified to a Grand Jury.

BEDFORD COUNTY, Va – A trial date has been set for a Roanoke man accused of attacking a Bedford realtor earlier this year. Police say Dustin Holdren attacked the realtor near Smith Mountain Lake in June. Dustin Holdren mugshotFriday morning a Bedford County Grand Jury found probable cause for felony charges of attempted rape, aggravated malicious wounding and robbery against Holdren. The case will go before a jury on March 23, 2021. Holdren is being held at the Blue Ridge Regional Jail without bond.

He says the officers were shot after investigating reports of gunfire at an intersection where there was a large crowd. Taylor, an emergency medical worker, was shot multiple times by white officers who entered her home during a narcotics investigation. State Attorney General Daniel Cameron said that while the officers had a no-knock warrant, the investigation showed they announced themselves before entering. But Cameron, who is the state's first Black attorney general, said the officers acted in self-defense after Taylor's boyfriend fired at them. ___This story has been updated to clarify that, according to the investigation, officers did not execute the warrant as a no-knock warrant, not that they didn’t use a no-knock warrant.
