The organization has offered its support by donating about 2,500 blankets and over 1,000 bottles of Gatorade and Muscle Milk to the Charlotte County firehouse..“We hope these items will help provide comfort to those dealing with this power outage,” said Gleaning president Jeane Smiley-Mason. “The electrolyte drinks and protein shakes should help during a time when folks simply cannot cook in their homes. Our prayers are with everyone facing this difficult circumstance right now.”Gleaning For The World plans to contact Charlotte County officials to provide more help given that another ice storm is forecasted for Thursday. While one polling location changed for this election, all of the others are unaffected. Appomattox County Registrar, Patricia Morton, said the polling location for the Stonewall Precinct has been moved to the following address: Gleaning for the World, 7539 Stage Road, Concord, VA 24538. However, all of the other polling locations have not changed. Only the voters who usually go to the Stonewall Precinct should go to Gleaning for the World on Tuesday.

God’s Pit Crew and Gleaning for the World are helping people in Mississippi and Louisiana, respectively. They’re shipping more than 100,000 pounds of items including personal care products, water, blankets and snacks. “We had the supplies in our warehouse to be able to send our first truckload down there, and also we had a partner come out and say they wanted to supply the funds for the shipping,” said Teresa Davis, communications director with Gleaning for the World. “All of the trucks have a variety of product on them,” said Randy Johnson, founder and director of God’s Pit Crew, “But one of the key ingredients is our ‘blessing bucket,’ which is a five-gallon bucket filled with a variety of personal hygiene supplies: soap, shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste.”Both organizations already sent multiple truckloads to the Gulf this year to help with hurricane relief.

Local disaster relief organization Gleaning For The World set up a donation trailer for Dorian victims outside the Lynchburg Sam's Club on Sunday afternoon. The organization collected supplies such as bottled water, diapers, cleaning products and nonperishable food. Davis says she believes people want to donate, so the organization backed up its trailer into Sam's Club to make it easier for them. Gleaning for the World will take the supplies down to affected areas when it is safe to do so.
