Researchers climbed the world’s largest tree to inspect for bark beetles and descended the giant sequoia with good news this week.

There is a thriving, giant sequoia tree located in the far north, in an area that can best be described as a frozen tundra during the winter.

General Sherman is still standing, but it’s not out of the figurative woods just yet, as it still towers in one of the county’s most famous stretch of woods.
