Wright's final residential design, the Norman Lykes House, recently sold at auction for $1,677,500. "The new owner of the last home designed by Frank Lloyd Wright now owns a masterpiece by America's most iconic architect," Nate Schar, director of luxury real estate for Heritage Auctions, said in a statement. Wright designed the home for Norman and Amy Lykes just before his death, drawing upon his concept of organic architecture. The Norman Lykes House lives up to Wright's goals.

The other properties added to the list are Unity Temple, the Frederick C. Robie House, Taliesin, Hollyhock House, and Taliesin West. The nomination process took more than 15 years, the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation said. The designation is mostly honorary, though World Heritage Sites typically receive increased tourism. "These sites are not simply World Heritage monuments because they are beautiful.
