Floyd County Public Schools announced students at all schools will be offered free breakfast and lunch for the upcoming school year.

FLOYD COUNTY, Va. – A person who is associated with Floyd County Public Schools has tested positive for coronavirus. According to a Facebook post from the school district, the person hasn’t been on Check Elementary property for five days, Floyd Elementary School property for eight days, and hasn’t been on Floyd High School or Willis Elementary property for nine days. School officials say they were told by the Virginia Department of Health that the person did not catch the virus at school property and they weren’t the cause of any high-risk exposures. Schools will remain open.

FLOYD COUNTY, Va. – Students in Floyd County returned to the classroom for the first day of school on Tuesday. With the new school year comes a new program providing free meals for every student in the county. “Access to food is an emergency service that every community has to have, and here in Floyd we are the emergency food provider at our five schools,” Floyd County Schools Superintendent John Wheeler said. Parents and their students don’t have to fill out any forms in order to participate, and students can get free breakfast and lunch every day for the year. FLOYD COUNTY, Va. – Floyd County Public Schools will be letting out early due to impending weather. Outlying schools will dismiss at 11:30 a.m., and town schools will dismiss at noon.
