According to Christiansburg police, it happened in the 800 block of college street. Police say a call came in at about 6:51 p.m. regarding a flooded basement. First responders were able to pump out the water in the basement to secure the house; however, a dog was in the basement and drowned. The dog was owned by a Montgomery County sheriff’s deputy, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
