The Division III Presidents Council has cancelled all fall sports championships, and the D-2 council quickly followed suit. The decision wipes out the Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl that decides the Division III national champion in football,as well as volleyball, mens and womens soccer and cross country and mens water polo. Salem and the Roanoke Valley have been home to a number of D-3 title games in addition to the Stagg bowl in recent history. That list includes mens and womens basketball, wrestling, softball and lacrosse. Salem is scheduled to hold the division III womens basketball championship at the Cregger Center in March of 2021,and division III womens softball and lacrosse in 2021 and 2022 in Salem.

(AP) - Reece Udinski threw four touchdown passes and Alex Ramsey ran for two more as VMI won its first home opener since 2015 by routing Division II Mars Hill, 63-21 on Saturday. VMI (1-1) wore a tribute to former player and coach Tim Maypray on their helmet for the home opener. He served as running back coach for the Keydets before moving on to coach at Davidson College. Ramsey ran eight yards for a touchdown midway through the first quarter and added a six-yard score in the third. Udinski was 17 of 29 for 264 yards without an interceptionJames Urzua was 13 of 25 for 156 yards to lead Mars Hill, throwing two touchdown passes and two interceptions.
