Leading by as many as 15 points in the second half, the Highlanders (10-9, 4-2 Big South) braced themselves for an unrelenting comeback effort from the Buccaneers (7-10, 3-3 Big South). A 9-0 run by CSU made it a six-point game with 14 minutes to play and the guests kept it close from there on out.

RADFORD, Va. – The Dedmon Center is the home of Radford University basketball, but it hosted a more important series of shots on Saturday. The New River Valley Health District and Radford University joined forces on a COVID-19 vaccine clinic at the arena. “Let’s just keep celebrating the vaccines as they go into arms, as they complete the series, as they get people vaccinated,” said New River Valley health director Dr. Noelle Bissell. They feel like there is an end to this.”Bissell said about 2,500 people in the New River Valley were eligible for the clinic. She now reports 12,000 people in the New River Valley have received both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Radford, Va. – A heavy dose of offense and solid defense by the Radford men’s basketball team led to a 102-66 rout over USC Upstate on Friday night inside the Dedmon Center. Radford shot 50.0 percent from the floor in the first half and increased that percentage in the second half. The Highlanders scored 52 points in the second half, which hadn’t been done since Nov. 12, 2019 against Bridgewater College. However, one of Mangum’s 3-pointers led Radford to end the game on a 35-14 run and seal the 38-point victory. RADFORD, Va. – Ariel Williams scored a career-high 25 points Friday night but visiting UNC Asheville defeated Radford in a high-scoring affair, 84-80, inside the Dedmon Center. UNC Asheville upped the defensive pressure out of the break, forcing five Highlander turnovers in the first three minutes of the frame. A late 10-1 run put UNC Asheville ahead by 12, 77-65, with two minutes left in the game. Nadiria Evans led all scorers with 31 points for UNC Asheville, and also added six rebounds and five assists.
