A ceremony was held at Greene Memorial United Methodist Church in downtown Roanoke honoring the brave men and women who gave their lives in service of our freedom.

Virginia Tech held its day of remembrance Wednesday, it has been 18 years since 32 people were killed in a mass shooting at Virginia Tech.

The Virginia Tech community is coming together to honor the 32 lives lost in the tragic campus shooting on April 16, 2007.

Every year, the school lays wreaths upon the memorial and lights a ceremonial candle for 24 hours to remember those killed.

Hokies and Virginians will gather this morning at the April 16 Memorial to remember the 32 Hokies lost 17 years ago today.

This Sunday marks Virginia Tech’s annual Day of Remembrance in honor of the 32 lives lost back on April 16, 2007.
