Residents in the Brosville, Axton and Cascade areas of Danville may be experiencing power outages.

Three people made it out of a Danville house fire unharmed Monday night, according to the Danville Fire Department.

We’re told the person tells the resident that if the home qualifies, solar panels can be installed with no up-front costs. Then the person says there is a program that has cheaper rates that never rise.

Crews are expected to work throughout the night to continue restoring power to Danville and surrounding areas.

Monday morning’s snow has left many without power.

June 9 marks the deadline to apply for FEMA reimbursement funds to recoup costs lost during the February ice storm.

”I mean, he is definitely the light of the room,” Flack’s friend, Cody Smith said. Flack is a Danville Utilities lineman who is now recovering in a North Carolina hospital after being injured on the job. We’re told Flack was trying to restore power for residents in Pittsylvania County Tuesday morning after last weekend’s ice storm. While hundreds are still without power in the Danville area, Flack’s friend says more lineman’s lives do not need to be put on the line. Officials said Jesse Flack was hurt on Sugartree Church Road around 11 a.m. Tuesday and was airlifted to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. DANVILLE, Va. – Saturday’s ice storm left large sections of Danville in the dark. Danville Utilities estimates more than 20,000 customers were without power at some point on Saturday because of the winter weather. “We had a significant amount of outages when the sun came up because trees started coming down,” said Danville Utilities director Jason Grey. “This is certainly the most outages we’ve seen since Hurricane Michael in 2018. Danville Utilities expects to restore power to all customers by Monday evening.

DANVILLE, Va. – If you get a call that your utilities will be disconnected in a half-hour, know this... it’s a scam. The city of Danville is warning residents that scammers are spoofing a local phone number as Danville Utilities to make calls threatening people. The caller claims to be with the utilities department, threatens to disconnect service if the customer does not make immediate payment and then asks for the customer’s debit or credit card number. Danville Utilities does not call customers about disconnects; rather, any notice of disconnection is done by mail. If you receive a call from someone you do not know and who is urging you to make a payment to Danville Utilities, write down the phone number, hang up and then contact the Division of Customer Accounts at 434-799-5125 or visit the Charles H. Harris Financial Service Center, which is located at 311 Memorial Drive.

DANVILLE, Va. Pay close attention to whos calling you and what they say because you might just get your credit card number stolen. The city of Danville is warning people about a scam where customers receive a call and someone threatens to disconnect their utilities within 30 minutes if they do not pay immediately. The scammers are calling people using local numbers disguised as Danville Utilities in hopes of stealing debit or credit card information. Danville Utilities does not make phone calls to customers about disconnects. If you receive a call from someone urging you to make a payment to Danville Utilities, write down the phone number and call 434-799-5125 to report the incident.
