Mark Warner of Virginia and his Republican opponent, Daniel Gade, sparred over how best to respond to the coronavirus and other health care issues Tuesday in their third and final debate. Warner blasted Gade for backing the president and being unrealistic about whatโs needed to defeat the virus and restart the economy. Gade repeatedly attacked Warner for voting against GOP coronavirus relief legislation, which Gade said was desperately needed in Virginia. On prescription drugs, Gade said Warner canโt be trusted because heโs taken significant donations from the pharmaceutical industry. Warner said Gade wanted to repeal the Affordable Care Act and end protections for people with preexisting conditions, something Gade strenuously denied.

Warner also holds a significant fundraising advantage over Gade, having raised nearly $10.6 million compared with Gadeโs approximately $983,000, according to the nonpartisan Virginia Public Access Project. Warner was asked why he didnโt support a 2014 congressional effort to get the Washington NFL team to change its name. Warner, a businessman who co-founded the company that became Nextel, served as governor of Virginia from 2002 to 2006. The first debate was held last month, and the final debate is slated for Oct. 13 in Richmond.

The event was held outside SafeSide Tactical where speakers talked about the importance of supporting police officers, not defunding them.
