2016: Film director and screenwriter Curtis Hanson dies at age 71 in his Hollywood Hills home. He's best known for directing the movies "The Hand That Rocks the Cradle," "L.A. Confidential," "Wonder Boys" and "8 Mile." He also won the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay in 1998 for co-writing "L.A. Confidential" with Brian Helgeland.
