Free music in the park returns this Thursday as part of the 7th annual Floyd Small Town Summer. Small Town Summer is a series of free events and concerts in downtown Floyd held every other Thursday in the Warren G. Lineberry Park.

Last year, we made some predictions on who would play at the now iconic Las Vegas Sphere, and so far the predictions have been correct.

Excitement is building as music lovers across the region look forward to the highly anticipated FloydFest.

The Las Vegas Sphere finally debuted last month with a huge reaction. Rock legends U2 were the first act to play in the mysterious new venue, and we finally go to see what the inside looked like.

SALEM, Va. A country star thats coming to Salem, Chase Rice, is facing major backlash after holding a concert in Tennessee this past weekend with fans standing side-by-side without wearing face coverings. Rice posted a video of the concert on his Instagram story, which has since been deleted. However, it was recorded and shared by another woman on twitter. In response, Wendy Delano, Director of Civic Facilities for the City of Salem told 10 News in a statement:Rice is set to perform at the Salem Memorial Ballpark at 7 p.m. on Friday, August 14.

Director of Operations Calvin Curry said the world is a different place since staff last saw the kids, between COVID-19 to demands for justice and racial equity. Theyre going to have to have some tough talks about race and discrimination, what kids are seeing on TV and in their local communities. Admit to our students, that unfortunately, in this country, in this world, some people are unfairly treated based on race, based on gender, based on age, said Curry. Aside from police, are there other people that need to be held accountable for the unjust treatment of African Americans? Turner asked Kaine. Asking our students to model the kind of behavior to help change this nation, said Curry.

Some experts believe it could be more than a year until live concerts return to our daily lives, which is heartbreaking for people who love seeing live music. So until then, the next best thing to do is watch a concert movie from one of your favorite artists. Look no further than Beyoncé's “Homecoming,” her live concert that was filmed in 2018 when she headlined Coachella, the Southern California music festival. From the costumes, dancing and marching band music arrangements, Beyoncé transformed Coachella into “Beychella,” and we’re lucky enough that the entire show is documented. Not only is Timberlake’s music incredible catchy, but the production value that went into this show, especially the choreography, makes it worth visiting.
