Wednesday marks the 6th annual Roanoke Valley Gives Day. Many of the more than 140 participating organizations are struggling this year because of the pandemic. โRoanoke Valley Gives has always been a great way for everybody to come together and be a part of the community. As youre reading this, donations are rolling in for the Community Foundation of the New River Valleys 7th annual online giving day, Give Local NRV. You have until 11:59 Wednesday night to donate to a New River Valley nonprofit or cause that speaks to you. Early giving started June 1 and gave Give Local NRV a more than $100,000 head start to meeting their goal. Since 2014, this online giving day has raised $1.2 million for nonprofits in the New River Valley. Community Foundation of the New River Valley is not only hosting the online giving day, theyre giving too.

Read full article: Finding the fun: New signs to help visitors, local adventurers navigate Virginia's Blue RidgeThe Community Foundation awarded grants totaling $250,000 to this regional "wayfinding" project in Virginia's Blue Ridge. Now, visitors and local adventurers will have an easier time navigating to their destination. Roanoke City, Salem, Roanoke County, Botetourt County and Franklin County will each get $50,000. Organizers hope the signage will help increase visitor satisfaction by providing easy navigation and increasing awareness of local destinations. This is just a great effort to showcase what Virginia's Blue Ridge has to offer," said Christopher Whitlow, interim administrator with Franklin County.
