ROANOKE, Va. - Roanoke County police say they have seen upticks in larcenies from cars in certain neighborhoods. Neighborhoods include Boxley Hills, Barrens Road Area and the Colony Lane area off Colonial Avenue. Authorities say these incidents generally happen overnight and are done by small groups who go driveway to driveway checking for unlocked vehicles. These groups reportedly rarely break windows or break into cars. There have also been several cars in these neighborhoods stolen because the keys were left inside.

ROANOKE, Va. - Construction on Colonial Avenue near Virginia Western may be a headache for drivers, but for cyclist Edward Cake it has proven to be downright dangerous. After months of unsuccessfully trying to get the contractor to refill the grooves, Cake reached out to 10 News. "I think what they have planned is going to be a pretty nice thing, a lot safer for cyclists later." Dangerous, he says, not just for the cyclist but for drivers, as well. The construction on Colonial Avenue is expected to be complete in January 2020.
