A fire broke out in the Acosta family's home in Galax on December 8th, but was averted from becoming a tragedy thanks to the quick actions of their teenage son, Harold.

A child alerted the rest of their family of a housefire in Galax late last night; an action that may have saved their lives, the Galax Fire Department said.
