Another top 5 finishing team was Rockbridge County, which came in fourth with 166 points. In consolation rounds, Colby Piner of Greenbrier East defeated Dawson Gragg of Christiansburg at 152 in a major decision. At 170, Sam Adams from Independence High School defeated Josh Moore of William Byrd, while James River’s Addison McCaleb notched a win over Greenbrier East wrestler, Nick Thomas. CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. – Capturing the joy of a snow day, Christiansburg High School announced that school would be closed Tuesday with a music video that is now becoming a local sensation. It’s a spin on the Phil Collins hit, “In the Air Tonight.”The music video was created by the high school principal, Tony Diebler, and high school student, Kolby Brown. The principal has created snow day videos in the past by adapting lyrics to well-known songs and recruiting students to join in on the fun. He cuts the videos and releases them on upcoming snow days, and this his first of the decade has already been viewed nearly 6,000 times.

Christiansburg was one of 7 choirs from all over southwest Virginia that competed for the coveted prize of joining the famous band on stage. Christiansburg won with over 4,600 votes, earning not only the rights to perform with foreigner, but also a $500 donation to their choir.

Choirs from schools all over southwest Virginia recorded themselves singing a cover of Foreigner's song - "I Want to Know What Love Is." The Christiansburg choir won with over 4,600 votes. The group will get to perform that song alongside Foreigner during a concert at Elmwood Park in Roanoke on Sept. 26.

BLACKSBURG, Va. - The 2018 season was quite the whirlwind for Blacksburg High School football: a new coach, an undefeated regular season, and a state semifinal appearance. With unplayable fields, the school decided to move its home games to Christiansburg High School, which has a turf field. "Anywhere you play, you're going to create memories, and so we have a lot of great memories from playing over there at Christiansburg High School. With the soggy spring this year, football wasn't the only sport affected by a poor playing field. "The synthetic artifical turf I think will be nice for a high school playing surface.
