GILES COUNTY, Va. – Police say a Giles County man is dead following a crash that happened Friday morning. At about 10:15 a.m., a 1990 Chevrolet S10 pickup truck was traveling west on Route 460, near Route 758, when it drove off the left side of the highway, went through the median and crossed the eastbound lanes. The pickup continued off the road before overturning. 64-year-old James E. Sanders, of Pembroke, was transported to Carilion Giles Community Hospital in Pearisburg where he succumbed to his injuries later that same morning. The crash remains under investigation.

DANVILLE, Va. – One person from Danville is dead after a crash Friday night, according to the Danville Police Department. At 8:40 p.m., police said emergency personnel responded to the 500 block of Kentuck Road after reports of a crash. Authorities said they found a Chevrolet SUV overturned on the side of the highway when they arrived on the scene. The driver, Born Universal King Allah, 44, died at the scene, according to authorities. Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call 434-799-6510.

GRAYSON COUNTY, Va. – A 38-year-old Sparta, North Carolina man died on Friday after a crash in Grayson County, according to Virginia State Police. At 11:50 p.m., police responded to a crash on Route 21 in Grayson County, just north of Hardin Road. A 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier went off the right side of the road, hit a guardrail, overcorrected, then went off the left side of the road and hit a tree, according to police. PATRICK COUNTY, Va. – A 17-year-old is dead after a crash involving a dirt bike and another car in Patrick County Wednesday night, according to Virginia State Police. Authorities say the two-vehicle crash happened on Route 57 around 9:45 p.m., just east of Route 844 in Patrick County. A 2000 Chevrolet Lumina was going east on Route 57 when it came across a 1996 Honda dirt bike going the same direction, according to police. The driver of the Chevrolet swerved left to avoid the dirt bike, and officers say the driver of the dirt bike swerved to the left at the same time to avoid the Chevrolet. Authorities say the crash remains under investigation.

BEDFORD COUNTY, Va. – Virginia State Police Trooper T.M. Wertz is investigating a two vehicle crash which resulted in a fatality. According to State Police, the crash happened Friday, at 10:53 p.m. on Route 460, two tenths of a mile west of Dixie Lane in Bedford County. Police say a 1993 Toyota Corolla was traveling east in the westbound lanes on Route 460, when the vehicle hit a 2015 Chevrolet Malibu head-on. According to police, he was wearing his seat belt and was transported to Centra Bedford Memorial Hospital, where he later died.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – As sponsor after sponsor dropped Kyle Larson after he used a racial slur during a live-streamed virtual race, his NASCAR team owner was backed into a corner. “I told Kyle he can come back from this; he can even come back from this with our team,” Ganassi told The Associated Press. Ross Chastain, under contract as a development driver for Ganassi, will likely replace Larson whenever racing resumes. “After much consideration, Chip Ganassi Racing has determined that it will end its relationship with driver Kyle Larson,” Ganassi said in a statement. Larson was thought to be deciding between Ganassi or a move to Tony Stewart’s NASCAR team.

WISE COUNTY, Va. – Virginia State Police are investigating a single vehicle crash in Wise County. Police said the crash happened just before 1 p.m. Friday on Route 58A near mile marker 52. According to police, a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt was traveling west on Route 58A when it ran off the left side of the road. The driver over-corrected, which caused the Chevrolet to cross back over the travel lanes, run off the right side and continue over the guardrail. The driver, Hazel Mullins, 80, of Coeburn, Va., died at the scene.

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Va. - One person is dead after a two car crash in Franklin County. The crash happened around 11 p.m Friday between Route 969 and Route 611. According to Virginia state police, a Honda traveling west on Route 969, and crossed the center lines striking a Chevrolet head-on. The driver of the Honda was identified as James Mathews, 60 of Penhook, Virginia. There is no information available on the driver of the Chevrolet at this time.

SCOTT COUNTY, Va. - A woman is dead and a man has life-threatening injuries after a single-vehicle crash in Scott County. It happened on Thursday at 11:20 p.m. in the 15500 block of Bristol Highway. A 2011 Chevrolet pickup truck was driving west on Route 58 when it ran off the left side of the road and struck a tree, according to the Virginia State Police. The driver was flown to Bristol Regional Medical Center, where he was treated for life-threatening injuries. Charges are pending and the crash is still under investigation, according to the Virginia State Police.

PULASKI, Va. - Police charged a 76-year-old woman after a school bus crash Wednesday afternoon. At about 3:46 p.m., Pulaski police responded to a crash on East Main Street at Dora Highway involving an occupied school bus and a maroon 1998 Chevrolet pickup truck. Police say the bus was going east on East Main Street when the truck turned west onto the road and hit the bus. Police say no one on the bus was hurt, while the driver and passenger in the truck were both transported to LewisGale Hospital-Pulaski with non-life-threatening injuries. Patricia Hurst Odell, 76, of Draper, was charged with failure to yield right of way.

The American woman and her Australian boyfriend who were killed while on a road trip together in Canada died a "horrific death," police said. Canadian police did not say how the couple was killed but that their deaths are being investigated as homicides. Australian police said they were told the couple was shot, in "what can only be described as horrific circumstances." After finding some work in Canada on a cattle farm, they planned a three-week road trip through the country. He was working in Canada and they were planning an extensive road trip there for three weeks.

A 24-year-old American woman and her Australian boyfriend were found dead while they were roadtripping through Canada. Deese, of North Carolina, had met Fowler at a hostel in Croatia, her brother told the Charlotte Observer. After finding some work in Canada on a cattle farm, they planned a three-week road trip through the country. He was working in Canada and they were planning an extensive road trip there for three weeks. The Fowler family said they are going to Canada "to be with our boy and to bring him home."

A 500-1 longshot making just his third career Cup start, Haley won the rain-postponed, rain-shortened race at Daytona on Sunday. He inherited the lead after a 17-car accident decimated the field and a lightning strike forced NASCAR to stop the race.
