McConaughey, along with his wife Camila Alves McConaughey, will host the event that is set to stream on his YouTube channel at 7 p.m. on March 21. All proceeds raised from the event will go towards the Just Keep Livin Texas Relief Fund. “100% of all the donations will benefit so many organizations on the ground now and in the months to come,” wrote McConaughey in a social media post promoting the event. All grade levels will be offered in-person five days a week starting March 15. Currently, the county operates 4 days a week with Wednesday as virtual. Dr. Mark Burnette, the County Superintendent, says all students have the option to remain virtual except those with failing grades. Carroll County has been fortunate to avoid any major outbreaks in their buildings, the superintendent says.

Read full article: School leaders react after Southwest Virginia crash leaves two teens dead, another seriously hurtCARROLL COUNTY, Va. – UPDATELeaders with Carroll County Public Schools released a statement Monday night after two students were killed in a car crash over the weekend, while another suffered life-threatening injuries. School leaders shared that a fund has been created to help families with funeral costs. The driver, a 16-year-old male from Fries, was transported to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital and is being treated for life-threatening injuries. A 16-year-old girl from Hillsville and a 17-year-old boy from Galax both died at the scene. The Virginia State Police Wytheville Division Crash Reconstruction Team is assisting with the ongoing crash investigation.

When schools had to quickly adapt to online classes, it became apparent how many students have no access to the Internet outside of school grounds. The Carroll County Public Schools Superintendent, Dr. Mark Burnette, said it’s a mix of availability across the county, affordability for some families and the varying Internet speeds. About 25% of students are facing this issue currently and Burnette was hoping for some help from state lawmakers. Dr. Mark Church said about 35% of his students are struggling with accessibility with up to 17% located completely outside of a broadband coverage area.
