Dam operators at College Lake Dam on the Blackwater Creek reported that the dam no longer poses a potential flooding threat. CAMPBELL COUNTY, Va. – Some localities are frustrated by new restrictions in Virginia and are taking action. Bedford, Campbell and Appomattox counties are all drafting ‘no shutdown resolutions’ against Governor Ralph Northam’s executive order, calling it unconstitutional. Campbell County Supervisor Matt Cline says it goes against the First Amendment right to gather. After a vote, the topic failed to make it on the agenda. Campbell County supervisors plan on discussing the resolution at their next meeting on December 1.

The Latest on the effects of the coronavirus outbreak on sports around the world:___The European Tour has decided against having a limited number of fans for the Scottish Open next week. The tour says because of a recent update on the Scottish government's guidelines for COVID-19, the tournament at the Renaissance Club with not have spectators. It would have been the second golf tournament to have fans, after the Sanford International two weeks ago in South Dakota on the PGA Tour Champions. Another postponed game, Virginia-Virginia Tech, had previously been moved to that date as well. The positive tests at Notre Dame also caused South Florida to pause on-field football activities Wednesday.

This leaves us with fairly seasonable afternoon temperatures and only a stray shower or storm in the mountains. A front that gave Campbell and Appomattox Counties some severe weather Monday will lift north, allowing some high heat to settle in by Wednesday and Thursday afternoons. We could really use a good soaking rain, with wildfire season about a month away. Friday may not be a soaking rain, but it's at least the best chance of getting wet we have this week. Our front drops back to the south, leading to less oppressive heat and an increased chance of showers and storms.

CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. - It's been nearly a decade since two Virginia Tech students were murdered. On Aug. 26, 2009, Heidi Childs, 18, and David Metzler, 19, were shot and killed in the parking lot of Caldwell Fields in Montgomery County.
