The ballet company partnered with Blue Ridge PBS to stream the performance on the GetWellNetwork, the in-house patient channel. Carillion Roanoke Memorial Hospital has more than 700 rooms and the performance will be available to view in each room. So being able to watch that, keeps their mind off their cancer,โ Melinda Bailey, an oncology nurse, said. The performance will stream until December 29th.

Rather than a traditional performance on just a stage, the ballet company is partnering with Blue Ridge PBS and other sponsors to air the show throughout December. A moment Emerson Kniola, a senior dancer, is excited about as her family lives in New York and Michigan. โThis year the Nutcracker which is my favorite production," Kniola said. If you are not in the area, viewers can watch the performance online in a Nutcracker Marathon on BRPBS' YouTube channel โBlue Ridge Streamingโ the weekend of December 11-13 and again throughout the holiday season.

For example, Mondays are about physical education, Tuesdays are arts and crafts, Wednesdays are theatre arts and so on. In 2012, Blue Ridge PBS lost state funding, which effectively shut down their education department. โSome kids donโt have a computer,โ said Will Anderson, president and CEO of Blue Ridge PBS. โSome kids donโt have internet access and this basically gets education (well you know everyone has a TV), it gets education into the homes.

Lucky fans of the popular PBS series got a sneak peek of the movie right here in Roanoke before it hits theaters. Blue Ridge PBS closed off Grandin Road in front of the Grandin Theatre so "Downton Abbey" fans could experience a movie premiere like no other. This party also served as a fundraiser for Blue Ridge PBS. Blue Ridge PBS sold more than 300 presale tickets and sold tickets at the door.
