The Black Dog Salvage in Roanoke is hosting the Dog Bowl Market again this weekend to kick off its 2023 season.

After nearly a decade on national television the owners of black dog salvage are taking on a new adventure to interact with their fans.

ROANOKE, Va. – There’s some more Hollywood magic happening in the Star City. A West Coast production company is shooting another made-for-TV movie in Roanoke, their second production in just the last few months. This one is tentatively titled “Secrets on Sorority Row” and is slated to air on Lifetime. Director Dylan Vox is a 2000 graduate of Roanoke County’s Cave Spring High School and said after he shot his last movie here earlier this year, “The Weekend,” he knew he wanted to come back. “The Weekend” is expected to air on Lifetime in March and “Secrets on Sorority Row” should be finished sometime this summer.

ROANOKE, Va. – The loss of Louis Tudor this July struck the hearts of many in the Roanoke community, but his legacy will live on. His family is partnering with downtown businesses to raise money for a mental health center to be named the Tudor House. Simply Framing, Black Dog Salvage and Texas Tavern are selling old signs and frames. The initial plan right now is to renovate the old Tudor Biscuit business on Church Street to host mental health support groups. And since this has happened, so many people have reached out to us to tell us their stories.”

The Pie Lady has a new home in the small town with the help of Black Dog Salvage. Ginny Barkett is known as the pie lady and this lady now has a fancy new shop to work out of. Right on the corner of Main Street in Fincastle, the once town pharmacy that has sat empty for years now has new purpose. It was crazy, we were making like hundreds of pies a week, said Will Barkett, The Pie Shoppe chef. Its a unique space in Fincastle they hope will make the small town even more of a destination.

ROANOKE, Va After eight years and 11 seasons, the Roanoke-based reality show Salvage Dawgs is coming to an end. The DIY Network recently announced that will soon be re-branded as Magnolia Network and did not renew the show. Kulp and his business partner, Mike Whiteside, started making episodes out of their Roanoke warehouse in 2012. Theres no stunt devils theres no salvage devils we had to do it ourselves and I can tell you were tired, its a much-needed rest and were looking forward to it, Kulp said. Kulp said Black Dog Salvage plans on remaining active in the Roanoke community.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of Black Dog Salvage. Mike Whiteside and Robert Kulp, co-owners and founders of Black Dog Salvage, are kicking off the 11th season of their hit show, "Salvage Dawgs," running a guest house and music venue and welcoming visitors from around the world to their warehouse. The show turned them into stars and the Star City into a worldwide destination. "It's surprising that we're looking around at all we've done, but I think we've got another good five years in us," Kulp said. Black Dog Salvage is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a special open house Saturday.

ROANOKE, Va.- - Black Dog Salvage is known for restoring furniture but the team is also getting into the music business. The group is opening a one-of-a-kind music venue and event space called The Dog Bowl. The spot will be on the strip of land between Black Dog and the Roanoke River Greenway. "It's big, we do everything big at Black Dog and this is no exception. Virginia is for lovers and we love Virginia," said Mike Whiteside, CEO, and Founder of Black Dog Salvage.

Preserving small pieces of history in Bath County, the Cascades Inn in Healing Springs is beyond the end of its life and is being torn down. But not before Robert Kulp and Mike Whiteside of Black Dog Salvage claim some small parts of it for restoration. The inn served a number of purposes over the years but has sat empty for the last 25 years. "So you want to make the best of that situation by calling in people like Mike and Robert," said Swann. Mike and Robert will show some of their visit at the Cascades on season 11 of Salvage Dawgs on DIY Network later this year.

ROANOKE, Va - Although it's Black Dog Salvage, you may see a white dog roaming around while you shop. Black Dog's Shipping and Receiving Manager, Nathan Giles, knew it was love at first sight. Walter White's adoption comes nearly a year after the death of Sally the Salvage Dog. She welcomed customers to Black Dog for 14 years, rarely missing a day of work. Today, you will find black dogs Stella and Molly May carrying on her legacy, along with dogs belonging to visitors and employees.
