Big Lick Comic-Con in Roanoke, Virginia, is expecting nearly 12,000 attendees this weekend, featuring stars like Michael Rooker and Catherine Sutherland, and emphasizing creativity and safety.

The bi-annual Big Lick Comic Con wraps this weekend, and a big star got some major honors in the Star City. Roanoke City Sheriff Antonio Hash recognized The Hulk, Lou Ferrigno with an honor at the Comic Con due to his work with law enforcement.

The Berglund Center in Roanoke has been filled with a colorful cast of characters as the 2022 Big Lick Comic Con kicked off on Saturday.

From zombies to superheroes, thousands of people dressed up for the Big Lick Comic Con at the Berglund Center in Roanoke.

ROANOKE, Va. – One Roanoke event is now off the books for 2021. On Monday, Big Lick Entertainment announced that February’s Big Lick Comic Con is canceled. While February’s event is canceled, the company is still planning to have one August 7-8. Things are going to be better than they’ve ever been,” said Big Lick Entertainment’s JD Sutphin. Last month, Big Lick Comic-Con happened at the Berglund Center with masks and social distancing.

ROANOKE, Va. – Big Lick Comic Con was originally set for the beginning of August, which was less than a month into Phase Three. Instead, Big Lick Entertainment postponed the convention to Saturday, Oct. 31 and Sunday, Nov. 1 to have more time to plan and to make sure guests and exhibitors can be comfortable attending. To do that, Big Lick made major changes but you can still expect to safely enjoy comic books, vendors and food trucks. Any comic con attracts crowds but Big Lick found a way to limit that too. There’s 55,000 plus square feet for you to be able to walk around and have your own personal space,” Sutphin said.

"A League of Their Own" will be show Saturday night in conjunction with the State Games of America.
