Read full article: Beloved childrenโs author Beverly Cleary dies at 104NEW YORK โ Beverly Cleary, the celebrated childrenโs author whose memories of her Oregon childhood were shared with millions through the likes of Ramona and Beezus Quimby and Henry Huggins, has died. Trained as a librarian, Cleary didnโt start writing books until her early 30s when she wrote โHenry Huggins,โ published in 1950. Among the โHenryโ titles were โHenry and Ribsy,โ โHenry and the Paper Routeโ and โHenry and Beezus.โAdRamona, perhaps her best-known character, made her debut in โHenry Hugginsโ with only a brief mention. AdโDear Mr. Henshaw,โ the touching story of a lonely boy who corresponds with a childrenโs book author, won the 1984 John Newbery Medal for the most distinguished contribution to American literature for children. Her books have been translated into more than a dozen languages, and inspired Japanese, Danish and Swedish television programs based on the Henry Huggins series.

Motherhood is what makes her latest project, โNatalie Portmanโs Fables,โ so close to her heart. โChildrenโs books have this very special place in our lives because we read them over and over and over again like no other books," the 39-year-old actress said. For her next writing project, Portman is hoping to tackle something in her son's comfort zone, perhaps a graphic novel.
