Fire crews responded to a residential structure fire with an entrapment at 412 Ramblewood Road early Sunday, according to Bedford County Fire and Rescue.

The Bedford County native has spent 16 years with the department, and prior to that served 14 years at Bedford Memorial Hospital.

BEDFORD COUNTY, Va. – UPDATEAuthorities identified the body that was found on Wednesday by multiple agencies. National Park Service along with the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office recovered a body near Rutrough Point on the Roanoke River. The park service says the body was that of missing 26-year-old Brent Gibson, of Bedford County. ORIGINAL STORYA body was found in a lake in Bedford County on Wednesday, according to the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office. AdOther agencies that initially assisted were Bedford County Fire and Rescue, Hardy Volunteer Fire Department and the Smith Mountain Lake Volunteer Fire Department.

Bedford County Fire and Rescue was selected as the Carilion Clinic Life-Guard "Call of the Year" for their lifesaving skills in 2018. "I found one car in the middle of the road and then a truck on the side of the road. Lt. Chad Baker and the rest of the team headed there after getting the call at the station. Ruthie was flown to the hospital in Roanoke by Carilion's Life-Guard 10. Members of Life-Guard 10 are also thankful for the Bedford County crew.
