Bankruptcy filings show Ciciโs placed blame on the coronavirus pandemic and the in-person dining restrictions that came from it. Unlike other pizza chains, Ciciโs struggled to make delivery possible during the pandemic due to its buffet-style dining model. According to bankruptcy filings, the chain said it had between $10 million and $50 million in assets with $50 million to $100 million in liabilities. Ciciโs came to an agreement in December for its primary lender, D&G investors, to purchase the company and its $82 million in debt.

The Charlotte Observer reports that private equity firm Sycamore Partners made the announcement on Tuesday. The firm owns Belk and says it will continue with โnormal operationsโ as it goes through bankruptcy. Sycamore Partners says it expects to emerge from bankruptcy by the end of February. Belk has more than 20,000 employees at its nearly 300 stores in 16 Southeastern states.

Sea Girt LLC made a separate bankruptcy filing Friday, listing few assets and fewer than $100,000 in liabilities. In an interview, NRA board member Charles Cotton made clear that the bankruptcy filing was motivated by litigation and regulatory scrutiny in what he called โcorrupt New Yorkโ โ not financial concerns. Going forward, the NRA said a committee will study opportunities to relocate segments of its operations to Texas and elsewhere. The NRA sued the company in 2019, alleging overbilling, and said in Friday's bankruptcy filing that the debt owed is disputed.

Stage Stores, Gordmansโ parent company, announced it filed voluntary petitions under Chapter 11 of the Bankruptcy Code in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas, Houston Division on May 10. Stage Stores says stores will begin to reopen in the coming weeks in an attempt to sell the rest of inventory. Stores will be conducting closing sales in the coming weeks. The company also has an estimated 10,001-25,000 creditors. Company officers may โenter into negotiation with any interested parties regarding a purchase of any or all of the assets of the company,โ according to the filing.
