The trail begins today for former Northside Football Coach Burt Torrence. He was indicted last year on 12 counts of embezzlement, embezzlement of public funds and obtaining money under false pretenses. In April of last year, Torrence admitted to taking money for work he did not do. The money was supposed to go to the track team and was going to Torrence and the football program.
The Town of Christiansburg honors fallen law enforcement officers today. Officers who died in 2016 will be honored as well as remembering the officers from Montgomery County who were killed in the line of duty The ceremony starts at 5 p.m. at Memorial Plaza.
Today is the deadline to vote in next month's primary elections. You can register online, at your local registration office or at the DMV. The primary election is June 13th.
The Special Olympics Little Feet Meet takes place today at Northside High School. More than one thousand pre-school and elementary aged students with special needs will compete in several running, throwing and jumping events. Students from the school will come out to support and cheer on the athletes.

Salem City Council will vote to authorize the city manage to execute an agreement for the development of the West Salem Body Shop. It will be transformed into ten upscale apartments and a possible restaurant as well.
First Lady Dorothy McAuliffe will help introduce the Feeding America Southwest Virginia café to Grow food truck. The truck will serve 200 children each weekday, fresh and nutritious meals.
