Edward Shaw

Meteorologist

Edward graduated from Virginia Tech in 2024 with a B.S in Meteorology and a minor in Geography. As a very proud Hokie, he was thoroughly involved with his department and college. Edward served as president of the Blue Ridge Chapter of the AMS/NWA, where his organization won first place in the local chapter poster competition at the National AMS Conference in 2024, and the 2024 Student Organization of the Year Award at Virginia Tech.

Edward previously interned at WRIC-8 in his hometown of Richmond, VA and most recently with the NBC News Weather and Climate Unit. With NBC, Edward produced graphics and stories for NBC, including the TODAY Show and Nightly News. He helped produce the 2024 NBC Eclipse Special, and oftentimes worked with legendary weathercaster Al Roker on several stories and breaking weather events.

Having forecasted from both a national and local standpoint, Edward is excited to join the WSLS Weather Authority team and forecast for our neck of the woods. When he isn't tracking the weather, Edward is oftentimes spending time with friends and family, or training as a third-degree black belt in Taekwondo. He loves attending Virginia Tech events and being involved with the community. If you have a weather-related story or a community event, Edward would be more than happy to be a part of it, so feel free to reach out!
