Irisha joined the WSLS news team in January 2017 after spending four years as a reporter in Georgia.
She earned a degree in Communication with a focus on Broadcast Journalism from the University of South Alabama in Mobile, Alabama. Before and after graduation, she worked in almost every position in production at the top station in the market, WALA in Mobile including news video editor, assignment desk and website publishing.
Starting her on-air journalism career, Irisha traveled four hours away to southwest Georgia to report for WALB in Albany. After two years, she moved on to their sister station in Columbus, Georgia WTVM. Both were the number one stations in their areas.
After years of being out of college, she's currently pursuing her Master's degree in Strategic Communication from Regent University in Virginia Beach.
Irisha loves to be active in the community, attending church, traveling, and trying new restaurants.
She is no stranger to moving to new cities. She was a military kid born in New Orleans also living in Beaumont, Texas, Mobile and Miami, Florida.
Previously a Georgia Peach and now a Virginia Lover, Irisha is excited to be in the Commonwealth and enjoys waking up to the sight of mountains every day.
