Radford Bobcats fall to John Marshall in Class 2 state title game, 82-43

RICHMOND, Virginia. – The Radford Bobcats lost to John Marshall in Saturday’s VHSL Class 2 state title game, 82-43.

John Marshall ran out to a 42-26 halftime lead on thier way to a resounding 82-43 win in the state title tilt. The Justices were a sizzling 13 of 25 from 3-point range in the game, led by Dennis Parker’s 24 points and 10 rebounds. Damon Thompson added 17 points with 5-three point buckets and 7 assists. John Marshall had 11 steals in the game.

Radford got 16 points from Landen Clark, including 5 three-pointers. Elijah Kelly added 11 and had 7 rebounds. Gavin Cormany finished with 8 points and 4 rebounds.

Nevertheless, it was a great season for the boy’s basketball team as they triumphed in the face of adversity in this year’s VHSL playoffs. The Bobcats finish 20-5, having won eight straight games before the title game.

Whether it was a COVID-19 shutdown or weather cancellation, the young team never failed to give it their all.
