1st and 10 Trophy Tour: Parry McCluer’s Nathan Glass

Accounted for over 1,000 yards and 19 TDs in 2024

BUENA VISTA, Va. – Our 1st and 10 Trophy Tour takes a trip up I-81 north as we highlight yet another electrifying junior quarterback who had the Parry McCluer Fighting Blues feeling anything but blue.

Nathan Glass helped set the tone at the start of the season as our Week 1 honoree. The 6-foot-4 signal caller completed 8 passes for 141 yards and 3 touchdowns, adding 40 yards rushing as well in a win over rival Rockbridge County.

Glass’ season finished three games shorter than he would’ve liked due to injury but he managed to still finish the season 33-of-76 passing for 750 yards, 12 touchdowns and just 4 interceptions. On the ground, Glass had 53 carries for 390 yards and 7 TDs. His presence on defense as a linebacker--just as impactful. Glass had a total of 29 tackles, 3 sacks and 4 interceptions including a 45 yard pick 6.

In reference to the week one victory over Rockbridge County, Glass said, “I mean it was great because these past two years we’ve got the best of them but ever since 2016 it was they were a hard team to beat so it’s so good to beat them these past two years and especially this year. Since my sophomore year I kind of realized that my run game needed to improve a little bit because I’m not always just going to be able to have somebody open.I need to make plays happen on my own so it was good to see that improve this year.

“His presence on the football field offensively, defensively, it’s just it’s phenomenal, you know,” said Parry McCluer head coach Jeremiah Brockenbrough. “I feel comfortable in every situation we get in whether it’s third and long, first and long, whatever we’re in.”

Glass, a dual sport athlete, is already on to the next sport helping the Fighting Blues basketball program.
