Fleming girls cruise to victory over Franklin County, Priest reaches 1,000 points

ROANOKE, Va. – In a Blue Ridge District showdown, the William Fleming girls basketball program defeated Franklin County 70-13.

It was clear from the opening tip-off, that the Lady Colonels were focused on the task at hand--playing hard at each end of the court. Their defense fed the offense throughout the night leading to a 33-3 advantage after the first quarter.

The highlight of the night, came towards the end of the opening quarter. With a tough, contested made layup in the paint, senior guard Deasia Priest scored the 1,000th point of her career. This feat comes just over a week after her teammate Amari Worsham reached 1,000 points in her career as well.

With the victory, the Lady Colonels extended their win streak to four games and moved to an overall record of 11-2.
