BLACKSBURG, VA. – Virginia Tech women’s basketball extended its ACC win streak to three games Sunday, defeating Wake Forest 61-54 at Cassell Coliseum.
The Hokies entered the game riding momentum after back-to-back ACC road wins, including an upset of No. 13 Georgia Tech in Atlanta.

Cassell Coliseum provided a loud and energetic home-court advantage for the Hokies’ 2 p.m. tipoff. Virginia Tech jumped out to a quick 12-4 lead in the first quarter with three-pointers from Lani White and Carleigh Wenzel.
Wake Forest responded with a run of its own, led by Raegyn Conley, to tie the game before the first quarter ended.
The second quarter remained close, with the Hokies holding a narrow 17-14 lead early on. Conley kept Wake Forest within striking distance, but Virginia Tech’s Rose Micheaux dominated in the paint. Micheaux, who shot a perfect 9-for-9 from the field, scored 20 points to lead all players.
Her back-to-back baskets late in the second quarter helped Virginia Tech regain control and build momentum heading into the second half.
Wake Forest stayed within reach, but the Hokies held on for the seven-point win, improving their ACC record to 3-2 and 12-4 overall.
