ROANOKE, Va. – Think about your favorite coworker — the one who’s reliable, hardworking, and always willing to step in when needed. For the Washington Commanders, that person is undoubtedly Terry McLaurin. Not only does he embody those qualities off the field, but he’s also a critical factor in their success on it.
Known as “Scary Terry,” McLaurin has made a significant impact this season, even as his nickname contrasts with his friendly and humble personality. His performance on the field, however, has been anything but gentle for opponents. With 82 receptions, a career-high 13 touchdowns, and an average of 13 yards per catch, McLaurin has been a constant threat, often guaranteeing a first down whenever he touches the ball.

McLaurin’s contributions have been a dream come true for first-year Offensive Coordinator Kliff Kingsbury, who shared what makes the wide receiver so special.
“Just from afar as a fan, the way he attacked the ball in the air and ran through smoke — I had heard great things about his work ethic and personality,” Kingsbury said. “But I think just the intensity each and every day that he shows up with. I mean, he’s dialed in, he is locked in, he is running full-speed routes, whether it’s a drill or a game. There’s a level of focus there that is rare for anybody in the NFL.”
Despite his incredible production, Kingsbury admitted McLaurin doesn’t get targeted as often as some of the league’s top wideouts.
“Day in and day out, he brings it, and then it’s been showing up on gameday,” Kingsbury added. “Especially as a guy that we don’t target a ton. We should definitely try to target him more, and I think as we evolve as an offense, that’ll get there. But he doesn’t have as many targets as some of the premiere guys and still has incredible production.”
As the Commanders continue to develop their passing game, McLaurin’s consistency, work ethic, and leadership will remain a cornerstone of their offense — and a nightmare for defenders league-wide.
