ROANOKE, Va. – As the saying goes, you’re only as good as your equipment. That’s a similar case for Washington Commanders rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels--he can only be as good as those around him. Fortunately, he has some good veterans on his side including a former standout Wahoo.
Olamide Zaccheaus has become a main threat to opposing teams of late. Standing at just 5-foot-8, his speed can kill any defense. We first saw this on display during his time in Charlottesville with UVA. He was an All-ACC First Team selection his senior year as he finished his 4-year career with 250 catches for over 2,700 yards and 22 touchdowns. Washington Commanders offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury is grateful Zaccheaus has made the most of his late season opportunities.

“The opportunity has been there, he’s gotten more reps and he’s a guy that in training camp I was blown away by just how talented he was inside, outside,” said Kingsbury. “I actually used to call him Oz for the first like two months of knowing him. And nobody would tell me that his name wasn’t Oz, even him. And so, one day Dyami Brown comes up, he’s like, ‘Yo, dude he really doesn’t like Oz.’ I’m like, ‘Well, it literally says OZ.’ He’s like, ‘It’s OZ.’ So, it’s like the whitest mistake ever. But he has forgiven me and he’s played really well, but great person, works really hard and it’s cool to see him take advantage of his chances.”
Kingsbury isn’t the only one putting respect on Zaccheaus’ name as of late. With all eyes on Terry McLaurin, O.Z. could be Daniels’ main target in the postseason.
