ROANOKE, Va. – In the game of football, every yard matters. Every play matters. The margin for error--slim to none. Some how, some way the Washington Commanders have made the impossible, possible during this 2024 campaign. In fact, only one word comes to mind when describing this team: clutch.

“The team has earned this right to go fight and we’re going to fight like hell,” said Commanders head coach Dan Quinn.

The teams fight has been evident all season. Ranked in the top five for third down conversions and top ten on fourth down conversions--you can never count the Commanders out. Just ask a few of their opponents throughout the season.

From a Hail-Mary win over Chicago to overcoming five turnovers to beat division rival Philadelphia and of course securing a playoff spot on Sunday Night Football in overtime against the Atlanta Falcons. There’s not much that can take this team by surprise. With that, the Commanders hope those handful of comeback wins pays off in the biggest games of the season--in the playoffs.

“It just helps you throughout the whole game, honestly,” said Commanders rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels. “If I miss a throw on third down, you can’t go back and relive that throw, you got to move on. So, it’s not really just the late game situations. I mean, I guess that’s where it shows up, but it’s really throughout the whole game.”

“I think just being in the moment, understanding how fortunate we are to be in this position and we won the last four games on the last play and it can go like that in this league,” said Commanders offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury. “So, we got to make sure we appreciate and take advantage of the opportunity.”
