ROANOKE, Va. – Even in losses there can be wins--just ask the Virginia Tech Hokies. While the Duke’s Mayo Bowl result may have left a sour taste going into the off season, the experience appears to have been a boost for one young receiver.--Ayden Greene.
Greene was a hot target all night for the Hokies in their Duke’s Mayo Bowl match-up. He hauled in 6 catches for 115 yards. The 6-foot-2 Tennessee native put a cap on what was a solid sophomore campaign that had him earning playing time in each game. While still young, his growth over the 2024 season will go far in the Hokies wide receivers room.

“His whole bowl prep was was fantastic, you know, he’s had his moments,” said head coach Brent Pry. “He had a great spring. You know, he didn’t come out and start the season the way we hoped he would but man he’s come on. That’s the kind of game he needed to have for him for us. He’s a guy that will look to for leadership and play making ability certainly in the fall.”
“I wanted to go out and be successful and be the best player I can and make an impact as much as I can,” Greene said. “Granted I left some plays out there. I think every football player does but those are always motivation.”
