ROANOKE, Va. – The 2024 edition of the Flycodes Invitational Basketball Showcase once again delivered with some top-tier match-ups featuring local teams from in and around the Roanoke Valley.
The day started with a middle school battle of two unbeaten programs: Lucy Addison vs. Breckinridge. The Bulldogs prevailed with a 45-30 victory, moving to 9-0.
In the lone girls match-up in the showcase, it was an early back-and-forth game between E.C. Glass and Christiansburg before the Hilltoppers pulled away for the win.
The Roanoke Catholic boys defeated Radford 58-42 with the E.C. Glass boys also earning a victory, 55-52, over Spotswood.
In the nightcap, G.W. Danville built a solid halftime lead but William Fleming fought hard in the second half. The Colonels had big shots from Sterling Tate and Julian Brown that helped cut the deficit down to 6 in the third quarter.
But Kobe Morrison gave the Colonels defense a fit all night with his timely step-back jumpers. He led all scorers with 19 points and 5 assists while his teammate Zay Cobbs added 18 points in the Eagles 54-45 win.
