Big second half propels Northside hoops past Cave Spring

ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. – It’s become one of the fiercest rivalries on the hardwoods in southwest Virginia--Cave Spring vs. Northside.

The first edition of the match-up happened Friday night in Bill Pope Gymnasium, with the Vikings outlasting the Knights in an 80-66 final.

Northside started the game on a 9-0 run with Cave Spring eventually making it a back-and-forth affair in the first half. That led to a 36-36 halftime score.

But Cy Hardy helped the Vikings pull away by dropping 13 points in the third quarter. He finished with 27 for the night while Kavon Brown added 18 in the 14 point victory.
